2025.6.28-7.2 WORM2025
Ken and Binta presented posters at the international worm meeting 2025 (WORM2025). They enjoyed seeing old friends and making new friends. Worm Art Show and Worm Comedy Show were also awesome! After the meeting, Ken visited Muneki in the Saul Kato's lab at UCSF and had a wonderful time! Find the pictures in the Gallery!
2025.6.20 Noma Dog live
A band, "Noma Dog", with our lab members, Sota (vocal) and Rikuou (base) did a live performance at Nagoya Univ. They performed an original song about Ken. It was an incredible performance! Great job!
2025.6.2-13 Khoa rotation
A B2 student, Khoa, rotated in our group for two weeks. He asked to do forward genetic screens and CRISPR. These experiments were difficult to complete in two weeks, but at least he got a sense of them. Good job!
2025.4.5 Hanami
We did Hanami, Sakura-viewing party, at Chiyobo Inari Shrine near the campus. Another group doing a party happens to be professional Shigin (poem recitation) and Shakuhachi (bamboo flute) artists. We enjoyed their plays as well!
2025.3.25 Graduation ceremony
We celebrated the graduation ceremony for Binta and Ryusei! Congratulations on both of them! Ken forgot that important day and went to Laos to be a Mahout, elephant keeper... Shame on him...
2025.2.26-28 EMBO-JST workshop
Ken presented an EMBO-JST joint workshop (Global insights in life sciences: bridging European and Japanese research) at Heidelberg, Germany. 2025.1.31 Binta's defense
Binta completed her PhD thesis defense! Congratulations, Binta! It was an awesome defense with a long discussion! After the presentation, we went to have dinner at Koji Marutani (Sekiya Brewery's flagship restaurant) and had lovely Japanese cuisine paired with Sake for each dish. 2025.1.12 Kansai-Chubu Worm Meeting
Rikuou and Masako presented at the Kansai-Chubu Worm Meeting and got the Best Presentation Award for Graduate and Undergraduate students, respectively, based on the audience's votes. Congratulations!! After the meeting, we celebrated the retirement of Nishiwaki sensei and appreciated his huge contribution to the community!
